XPD - X-ray Photoelectron Diffraction
Technological platform
X-ray photoelectron diffraction is a surface technique used to study the surface structure of the sample. The intensity of the excited photoelectron as a function of the azimuthal or polar angle of the sample is recorded by changing the position of the sample. XPD provides information on the surface relaxation and also the local atomic structure down to the monolayer. The quantitative information is given in combination with the electron scattering simulation. In addition, XPD is also the basis for photoelectron holography.
