The zootechnics department of the joint service unit UMS TEFOR Paris-Saclay (TPS-AQUA) is in charge of managing the aquatic animal facility installed in the building of the Paris-Saclay Neuroscience Institute (Neuro-PSI).
Located in the Paris-Saclay technology cluster, TPS-AQUA forms the core of a new French reference centre for aquaculture. TPS-AQUA houses 1600 m² of aquatic model farms and offers several services to research teams:
i) Housing of several aquatic model species:
- For fish: zebrafish (Danio rerio), medaka (Oryzias latipes), astyanax (Astyanax mexicanus); In development: cichlids (Neolamprologus brichardi, Maylandia spp.), danionella (Danionella translucida) and killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) ;
- For xenopes: Xenopus laevis and Xenopus tropicalis
ii) Supply of tissues, eggs, larvae or adult individuals of zebrafish, medaka and xenopus.
TPS-AQUA also conducts regulatory training for the use of aquatic model species.
