SAXS - Laboratoire Léon Brillouin (LLB)

Technological platform

Description

The LLB has installed a high-resolution X-ray scattering spectrometer, a Xeuss 2.0 from the company Xenocs, in the "SWAXSLab" at CEA Saclay. This equipment allows small-angle scattering (SAXS) and grazing incidence (GISAXS) measurements to be made, as well as reflectivity measurements. It is useful for research on nanomaterials, soft matter and biology. It allows structural studies of these nanomaterials in volume but also in surface by giving information on the dimensions, the shapes of the molecules or objects and their organisation. The dimensions of the objects studied vary from 50 nm to 0.5 nm. This equipment is operated by a team of experts in radiation scattering ready for scientific collaboration. It is complementary to the neutron scattering tools operated by the LLB but also to the 2 other X-ray scattering instruments of the SWAXLab installed at CEA/IRAMIS/NIMBE in Saclay.
