Plateforme Corrosion

Technological platform

Description

The Corrosion platform is part of the Service de recherche en corrosion et comportement des matériaux (S2CM) and is located in the Institute of Applied Sciences and Simulation (ISAS) for low-carbon energies at CEA Saclay. The corrosion platform combines conventional corrosion installations and original devices reproducing the physico-chemical conditions and stresses encountered in industrial facilities. The platform is dedicated to the study of material behavior and the development of anticorrosion solutions (choice of materials, manufacturing processes, cathodic and anodic protection, coatings, corrosion monitoring, etc.) in a variety of environments (water, polluted atmospheres, natural media, concentrated acids, hot gases, liquid metals, molten salts) encountered in the energy sector (current and future nuclear industry, waste treatment and storage, fuel cells, production, transport and use of hydrogen, etc.) as well as in numerous industrial environments. A range of equipment is also available for chemical and microstructural characterization of materials before and after testing, from macroscopic to nanometric scales.
