The Genetic Engineering and Expression Unit (CIGEx) offers various services covering the steps of (1) molecular biology for cloning of genes of interest, for mutagenesis, for genetic engineering, (2) protein biochemistry (for expression of recombinant proteins in different systems such as bacteria or baculovirus-infected insect cells, for protein-protein interaction assays, for homogeneous purification of recombinant proteins), (3) design and cloning of gRNAs for CRISPR/Cas9 experiments, (4) preparation of libraries for high-throughput sequencing, in particular for single-cell RNA-seq experiments, and (5) lentivirus production.
In addition, the CIGEx cell has set up its activities with the aim of (1) providing adapted and efficient tools and technologies, (2) providing a quality control and database to collect all the experimental data generated at each stage of a project, (3) providing a technological environment for users, and (4) providing training for researchers and students.
Finally, the CIGEx cell offers access, under certain conditions, to various resources such as (1) a bacterial strain library for cloning and for the expression of recombinant proteins, (2) a plasmid library for cloning and for the expression of proteins in different systems (bacteria, yeast, insect cells, mammalian cells), (3) a library of restriction enzymes, modification enzymes and polymerases, (4) a library of plasmid maps and constructed vectors (under DNA-Star/Lasergene 14).
