Technological platform


The I2BC's plant experimentation platform is composed of 3 independent spaces in S2/S3 containment, renovated in 2013. Thus, we can accommodate genetically transformed plants and class 2 or 3 plant pathogens. These areas represent a floor area of 1200 m2 and are managed according to the rules of prophylaxis and biological control in order to avoid any use of synthetic pesticides. These areas are also equipped with climate supervision to guarantee a stable and reproducible climate for researchers, with a remote alarm system for on-call intervention if necessary. The team associated with this platform consists of a manager and a senior technical officer for the maintenance of experimental crops. In partnership with the I2BC technical service and the maintenance company providing the service, they coordinate their efforts with all the scientific users concerned (internal to the I2BC, but also external: academic and private collaborations) to ensure the necessary quality of this support service for research in fundamental and applied plant biology within the Université Paris-Saclay. The platform is also attached to the national training initiatives "Ecole Serristes INRA" and "Réseau National Serristes CNRS" and to the initiative of the creation of a new network in Paris-Saclay: RéSEPS - for Réseau SErristes Paris-Saclay - with the objective of maintaining and developing a high level of mutual aid and development of the knowledge and skills of this profession, which is useful to scientists whose object of study is the plant
