Description

The Bioproduction platform’s mission is to optimize processes and produce cell banks. It is equipped with several automated systems and ensures the analytical controls of fundamental, translational or clinical research projects. In parallel, it ensures the development of new technologies and methods in order to respond to scientific evolutions in the field.

Technologies utilisées

The automated production platform is made up of several pieces of equipment: a Compact Select (Sartorius Stedim), enabling cells to be cultured in an adherent system (T75, T175 and triple culture flasks), two semi-automated culture systems, CliniMACS Prodigy (Miltenyi Biotech), a system for distributing liquid in tubes, the Fill-It (Sartorius Stedim) and a temperature-controlled descent automaton, the Cryomed (ThermoFisher). This ensures maximum cell viability during cryogenic storage.

A dedicated team produces pluripotent cells on a large scale (400 tubes, 2 billion cells) and numerous cell differentiations are possible (MSCs, keratinocytes, RPE, myoblasts, etc.). The Compact Select is a flexible robot that allows the production of several different batches in parallel. All cell banks produced are subject to strict quality control to ensure that they meet batch release criteria (health status, genomic stability, phenotype, etc.). The two CliniMACS Prodigy (Miltenyi Biotech) semi-automated culture systems used for clinical purposes are closed systems that allow cells to be produced in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations. These systems enable the development of amplification and differentiation processes that can be easily transferred to a GMP production facility for cell therapy projects. The members of the Bioproduction platform are also responsible for adapting processes to automation and supporting teams in optimizing protocols and implementing robust analytical controls in accordance with international standards.
